Shadow Work and Embodied Awakening Workshop with Hilary

Sunday, March 10th, 2024 from 1-4P

Location: Indwelling Community Room

Investment: $55

Carl Jung’s “Shadow,” is a symbol that represents the hidden side of every human psyche. The Shadow is composed of repressed or oppressed aspects of an individual’s personality that are deemed as "unlovable," "unwanted," or “unacceptable,” and are tucked away into the deep parts of the bodymind. Hiding within our embodiments, the Shadow takes up vital interior space, and often comes out sideways in behaviors, compulsions, patterns, and habits. It also often contains some of our greatest gifts and elements of our unlived lives--aspects of ourselves that are just waiting to be awakened, integrated, and enlivened.

“If we understand anything of the unconscious, we know that it cannot be swallowed. We also know that it is dangerous to suppress it, because the unconscious is life, and this life turns against us if suppressed..." -Carl Jung

In this workshop we will circle together and investigate the myriad of ways that the Shadow can manifest in our lives and bodies in the spirit of getting to know ourselves better, to awaken, and to embody our innate wholeness. Using the theories and philosophies of Carl Jung on psychological projection and complexes, the Unconscious, and the Shadow we'll dive deeply into our bodyminds as intrepid explorers. The fruits of this journey can include more consciousness, more depth of being, more empathy, more peak experiences, more joy, and increased capacity for emotional intimacy. It can be liberating to accept yourself as whole and to feel more awakened and embodied, the natural consequences of which can radiate outward to all aspects of our lives.

This workshop will include embodied movement, creative practices, partner work, group discussion, and more.

One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. -Carl Jung
