Witch Camp: Amanita Retreat (October 2024)

October 11-13, 2024, at Camp Amnicon in the Lodge

Check-in: 4P on Friday, October 11

Check-out: 12P on Sunday, October 13

Retreat Cost: $299

During this fall retreat weekend, we will circle together when the veil is thin and explore the beautiful and mystical Amanita muscaria mushroom. Amanita mushrooms have played a role in mythology and folklore throughout history. These mushrooms have been associated with various gods and goddesses and have been featured in many myths and legends. The Vikings believed that Amanita mushrooms were a gift from Odin, the god of wisdom. In Siberian mythology, Amanita mushrooms were believed to be a bridge between the spirit world and the physical world.

Early October is prime Amanita foraging time and we will explore the woods together to look for specimens and learn to identify them. We will also spend time learning about the history, usage, and therapeutic value of these incredible fungi.

Camp Amnicon:

The lodge at Camp Amnicon has a beautiful central fireplace with seating area, small kitchen area, sauna, access to coffee and tea all day, indoor bathrooms and showers, and two bunk rooms. There are a myriad of hiking trails and access to Lake Superior and the Amnicon River—an incredible retreat destination in the heart of the South Shore wilderness.

This retreat will include a morning practice such as yoga, free time for rest and reflection, and workshops with Indwelling Guides.

The retreat cost includes breakfast, which is provided by Indwelling. For dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, please bring a potluck item. This is a beautiful way to care for each other with nourishing food and also keeps the retreat cost at a reasonable price.

*This retreat will be offered to women, women identifying individuals, and non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experience of women.

Retreat Guides: Hilary Buckwalter-Wilde, Heather Murphy, Angela Krick, and Denise Plunkett.
